Hand Operated Hoists
Features and Specifications

Frame
Rugged, lightweight aluminum alloy construction.  All load-bearing parts are strong, ductile, and shock resistant.

Covers
Cast aluminum alloy covers fully enclose and protect the mechanical load brake, the operating mechanism, and the gearing.

Gear Train
All models have quiet gearing that operates in grease within an enclosed chamber.  All gear teeth are machine cut from alloy steel and heat treated with shock resistant ductile cores.  Gearing is designed to AGMA standards for maximum life.  Gears and pinions are mounted on heavy-duty bushings that are Teflon® coated and permanently lubricated.  (Teflon® is a registered product trademark of the DuPont Company).

Mechanical Load Brake
The Weston-type, screw actuated disc brake can hold a full capacity load stationary in any position.  The load brake provides positive load control independent of the lever.  The sixteen-tooth ratchet gear and double alternating pawl arrangement allow for short handle strokes and operation in tight areas.

Load Wheel
The hardened load wheel is alloy steel with precision-formed pockets to fit links of load chain.  Chain guide integral with frame and one piece stripper provide a guard against the chain jamming during normal usage.

Load Chain
Closed link coil type and electric welded.  Grade 100 type alloy steel chain is heat treated for wear resistance and ability to withstand impact.  The chain is proof tested and provided with an electro zinc plated finish.

Load Block
The load block supports the load hook and permits the hook to rotate 360 degree under capacity loads.  On the 6 ton capacity unit, the chain sheave is supported on antifriction bearings.  The load block is designed to guide the chain without jamming during normal operation.

Top Hook Block
The top hook block attaches to the frame via a pin connection that allows pivot of the frame relative to the hook block.  This pivot action is in addition to the 360 degree rotation capability of the hook.

Hooks
All hooks are drop forged heat-treated steel with spring type latches.  Hooks rotate for easy rigging or load attachment.  Swivel latch type hooks are available as optional equipment.

Free Wheel Lever
An easily accessible lever provides free wheeling.  It is spring loaded for positive action but locks in place for hands free operation.

Lever Handle
The lever handle (patent pending) has a short length for operation in tight places.  It has an unrestricted 360 degree rotation allowing use of the lever hoist in any position.  The lever handle is far enough from the chain so that the operator's hand will not strike the taut chain during operation.

Reversible Direction Trigger
An easily accessible, reversible direction trigger is located in the handle facing the operator's hand instead of facing the load chain.  The trigger can be operated with a thumb or finger without releasing the grip portion of the lever handle.  This allows one handed operation of the lever handle and frees the other hand to stabilize the load.  A neutral position allows the handle to be relocated without advancing or releasing the load chain.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

Anchor Sling
Anchor sling assemblies are available for 1-1/2 and 3 ton capacity units either as optional equipment on new hoist or as an optional component for field installation on existing hoist units.  Available either in standard lengths or special lengths as required.

Overload Device
An overload device (patent pending) is available either as optional equipment on new hoists or as an optional component for field installation on existing hoist units.  An overload device is a mechanical devise installed in place of the standard handle ratchet.  The lever handle will slip if the load it senses exceeds the preset capacity of the overload device.  When the device slips during the lifting or pulling of a load, the device will still allow the hoist load to be lowered or released and removed.  When the excessive overload that has caused the device to slip is removed from the hoist hook, the hoist can then be used to lift or pull a load.
